As an important building block of modern digital infrastructure open source software is already in use at public administrations around the world. With digital infrastructure becoming a cornerstone of services provided for citizens, it’s also more important than ever to run a reliable and flexible software stack. Under the premise of digital sovereignty governments try to achieve those goals with open source software.
Open source lives from the contributions of its users and getting involved in maintaining and developing the software is the best way to insure that it will continue to serve your needs. This is why some governments already look to increase their involvement with existing open source communities, build their own projects or try to procure more open source software.
On March 17th , the second day of FOSS Backstage, from 9:00 to 10:00 o’clock, we invite everyone working on the intersection of open source software and public administration to join our “FOSS eGov breakfast” hosted jointly by NEGZ and FOSS Backstage.
We are looking forward to welcome many of our speakers for example from the OSPO of Munich, ALASCA, Open Forum Europe, and more.
Network with professionals from public and private institutions who are working on digitizing public administration. Grow your network and meet like minded people enthusiastic about the opportunities of free and open source software for public administrations.
The “FOSS eGov Breakfast” takes place from 9:00 to 10:00 am on the 17th March at FOSS Backstage:

This year FOSS Backstage Design will feature a barcamp. This format is especially great, because it allows to shape the program to the interests of the participants, encourages everyone to contribute to the event and is a lot of fun!
At the barcamp we will build the program adhoc during the event. Just bring your session ideas and see what others want to discuss. After a short round of session pitches, the most popular proposals will be put onto the schedule.
To kick off the day and provide some inspiration, the first half of #FOSSDesign will start with a number of curated talks. This also will give everyone enough time to get to know each other, maybe come up with last minute session idea or adjust your the proposals for the barcamp.
